Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is performed to change the outside appearance of the nose. The goal is to make it harmonize better with the other facial features – while maintaining or improving function. This surgery is often performed with internal nasal surgery to improve nasal breathing.
The aspects of the surgery performed to improve nasal breathing are usually covered by medical insurance. In most cases, rhinoplasty is not covered by insurance. The fees associated with the cosmetic portions of the surgery will be discussed with you during your consultation.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid lift)
Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) is a procedure performed to restore a more youthful appearance of the eyes and less fatigued look. It can also improve visual function in some cases. Blepharoplasty is one of the most common facial rejuvenation procedures performed. It generally involves the removal of excess skin and fat around the eyelids. This procedure is sometimes covered by insurance if the excess eyelid skin causes visual obstruction.
Otoplasty (Ear reshaping)
Abnormally protruding ears can make a child of any age the object of cruel remarks by his or her peers. For any child whose appearance causes concern, otoplasty, “ear reshaping” should be considered before peer pressure begins to play a significant role in the child’s self-esteem, typically age five or six. Otoplasty makes the ears less noticeable while maintaining function. This procedure is sometimes covered by insurance.
Cosmetic Botox®
What Is Cosmetic Botox®?
Botox® has been used therapeutically for over 16 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. It is approved in more than 75 countries. Botox® for therapeutic use remains one of the most widely researched medicines in the world. The same formulation with dosing specific to facial lines was approved in 2002 as Botox® Cosmetic.
What is it used for?
It is a purified protein administered in a simple, nonsurgical procedure that temporarily improves the appearance of wrinkles. During treatment, very low doses of Botox® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines in key areas of the face. Botox® is used to treat any problem where inappropriate muscle contraction is the problem. In the cosmetic world, Botox® is used to INDIRECTLY help with wrinkles. Wrinkles are caused by muscle contractions under the skin. Paralyze those muscles and the wrinkles can’t happen.
What does Botox treatment Cost?
Botox® for Cosmetic use is NOT covered by any health insurance company. Payment is required prior to any injections performed. Botox® Cosmetic is priced based on the number of facial areas treated. There is a discount when you treat multiple areas.
How many injections are required?
The Botox® effects only spread about 1 cm circumference from the point of injection. As such, if the wrinkles are localized to a single region that is about 1 cm in size (I.e., Crow’s Feet), only one injection is required. However, if the region to be treated is large (i.e., forehead wrinkles), multiple injections every 1 cm need to be performed for adequate coverage. The more injections performed, the more expensive it is going to be. Larger muscles require a higher dose per injection.
What is the Botox Cosmetic procedure like?
It is a simple, 10-minute treatment for moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, wrinkles on the outside of eyes (crow’s feet), forehead wrinkles, dimpled chin and bands in the neck. Your physician and you will decide where exactly to administer Botox® Cosmetic for best results.
